Marvel’s ‘Jessica Jones’ among big winners at Hugo Awards
The Hugo Awards overs the weekend helped to recognize some of the best in science fiction, and it just so turns out that in their eyes, the greatest show of this past year was Marvel’s “Jessica Jones.”
The series starring Krysten Ritter specifically won the award for Presentation in the Short Form for its season finale entitled “AKA Smile.” This is certainly a worthy victory, but what may be a surprise is that there weren’t exactly many other TV winners on the night. After all, this is a show that does tend to recognize the best of all forms of entertainment, and not just what is on television.
So what does this mean for the future of “Jessica Jones” on Netflix? Not much, mostly because of the sole fact that the future was already cemented. The streaming service ordered a season 2 earlier this year, with the major caveat that it is going to be a long time until you see it. Specifically, we’re talking 2018. Next year Netflix already has quite a bit of other stuff on the docket in between the premiere of “Iron Fist” and “The Defenders,” the massive team-up that is going to feature Jessica Jones alongside Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Luke Cage. Ritter is apparently going to start filming the second season not too long after “The Defenders” wraps things up.
Once there is more to report, we’ll have it for you — but as the official Twitter suggests, this is a time to celebrate! (Side note: This is one of the best show-related Twitter accounts out there.
