‘Bachelor in Paradise’ alum Chad Johnson to appear on Ben Higgins’ reality show

Chad -Call this either news straight from reality TV heaven or hell. Odds are, for you there is no middle ground.

As first reported by ET Online, Chad Johnson, still relatively fresh off his notorious “Bachelor in Paradise” appearance, will be turning up on the “Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?” reality show premiering on Freeform later this fall. Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell are from “The Bachelor” earlier this year, and in theory neither one of them actually know Chad. They were at the “Bachelorette: After the Final Rose” special earlier this year, but that’s the only tangible connection we can think of.

So how in the world is this happening? It’s hard to imagine Chad and these two being fast friends, but crazier things have happened. Of course, this also could be producer cognizance that Chad equals eyeballs, and since there’s no way you can justify a guy with his patterns of behavior becoming the Bachelor, you may have to think of other ways to use him.

One thing worth noting, based on Bushnell’s recent comments to E! News, is that this new show isn’t going to be all about happy times:

“We haven’t necessarily set any specific boundaries. We did talk about what we do want from the show, and we just don’t want it to be our highs … We don’t want it to be all just happy and go-lucky, we really want it to be real, and with that, Ben and I are human beings, we have our downs, we have our arguments. I don’t want any of our struggles to be censored. I want it to be very real. That’s the conversation we’ve had. We just really want to be ourselves and not feel like we have to censor ourselves or be different than we who are just because they’re are cameras around.”

Do we think that Chad will bring in a few more viewers to the show? Sure, but we haven’t had time yet to fully measure the image self-destruction that took place from the “Bachelor in Paradise” premiere. After the way he got drunk and insulted Sarah Herron, we definitely don’t see him as being as popular as he once was.
