‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7, episode 8 review: Could Spencer be Mary Drake’s daughter?
The threat is close … very close. At one point during Tuesday night’s new episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” we saw Mrs. Grunwald return after a lengthy absence with this particular warning in tow: Hanna was in danger. Moments later, this sequence provided another surprise: Noel Kahn!
After this, Hanna used it as ammunition to try to convince the other Liars of precisely what she currently believes: That this guy is A.D. a.k.a. Uber A, and the one responsible for everything. There is a substantial amount of evidence out there that he’s shady, but at the same time, there’s no real proof.
Spencer and Aria’s mission – In an effort to get some additional intel regarding Mary Drake’s history, the two women paid a visit to Dr. Cochran, someone with a history at Radley and may have delivered her two children. One of them was Charles. As for the second, he didn’t remember if it was a boy or a girl, and it was put into the custody of family services.
Paige returns – We knew this was coming, but it was still a shock to Emily to see her ex-girlfriend in Rosewood auditioning for the swim coach job. The two reconnected and talked about the past, including their breakup.
Aria wants answers for Ezra and herself – At the end of this past episode, Ezra learned that his ex Nicole may not be dead, after all, and that threw a wrench into their entire relationship. She cashed out the tickets to Italy to get him on a plate, hoping in her heart that this did not change anything for the two. Hanna’s departure at the end of the episode of her own mission (a potentially-dangerous one) also had her saying goodbye to Caleb in a way that could be rather romantic in its own right.
Now, let’s talk cliffhangers: Could Spencer be Mary’s daughter? Is that a thing? That montage at the very end with her and the photos certainly make you wonder, and that’s a heck of a strong end to a creepy, interesting episode. Grade: B.
