‘Real Housewives of Orange County’ season 11, episode 8 review: Shannon Beador gets a beautiful birthday surprise
On the last episode of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” we saw things heat up with Kelly Dodd and pretty much all the other ladies. She was very upset about what Nina had said and was yelling obscenities towards Shannon and Tamra at the sushi lunch for Meghan. Heather was so upset that she left the lunch and was in tears, a side of Heather not often shared on the show. Shannon and Tamra heard Kelly’s apology and while Tamra accepted it, Shannon wants nothing to do with her right now. How much of this fight is going to spill into tonight’s episode?
Heather is still having a hard time processing what happened at Meghan’s sushi lunch when it comes to Kelly. She says to Tamra that after the outburst at Shannon’s 70’s party and the things that were said by Kelly at the lunch, she just doesn’t know where to go from here. There was a really nice moment here where Heather noted that if this was a few years back, that this could’ve been Tamra handling herself the way that Kelly did and that she thought she handled this with great respect for everyone.
Kelly has admitted to Meghan that she was wrong in what she said and getting so turned up. Meghan points out that while Kelly is so worried about getting a reputation from what Nina said, she is actually getting a bad reputation for exploding at parties and saying nasty things. Kelly is stuck on the fact that she is a mother and tells Meghan that when she has her own kids that she will understand. Meghan takes offense to that saying that Kelly is disregarding what her own actions may have on her own daughter.
Also, it’s Shannon’s birthday and David has planned a wonderful surprise for her! He has invited all of her friends to attend a surprise party for her special day (excluding Vicki and Kelly) at the place they got married and at this party he also planned a vow renewal. Lastly he’s also taking her on a honeymoon to Cabo! An absolutely beautiful event – well done David!
We have been worried watching David and Shannon struggle through the affair he had and trying to get their marriage back on track, but seeing them renew their vows with their family and friends around has quieted any fears we had that they may not make it. This was a beautiful vow renewal and something we really enjoyed being part of. After so many episodes filled with drama, this was just what we wanted to see this week. Episode grade: A-
