‘Homeland’ season 6 spoilers: ‘Prison Break’ alum Robert Knepper to appear
Great news for fans of both “Homeland” and also Robert Knepper: The two parties are going to be joining forces for the upcoming sixth season of the Showtime series.
As first reported by Deadline, the “Prison Break” actor (who has appeared on “Arrow,” “Heroes,” and a variety of other shows over the years) is going to make an appearance here as General Jamie McClendon, a man very important for the purposes of keeping America safe. He is a representative of the Department of Defense, and someone instrumental in briefing the upcoming President Keane (Elizabeth Marvel) as she gets closer to entering office. This character has been described as a cocktail-of-sorts for many other candidates in real life, whether it be a Hillary Clinton, a Donald Trump, or a Bernie Sanders.
While the past couple of seasons have focused more on fighting terrorism overseas, season 6 is taking much more of a domestic approach. Filming is taking place in New York City, and tackling the uncertainty of the world following 9/11 to go along with the arrival of a new President are two of the basic themes that are behind the story.
There’s obviously going to be a lot to like when it comes to Knepper in the new year. Showtime has pushed back the start of “Homeland” until 2017, and to go along with that the upcoming revival of “Prison Break” featuring him, Wentworth Miller, and many other familiar faces is coming in the spring. Let’s hope that all of this ends up being worth the rather substantial wait.
