‘Madam Secretary’ season 3 premiere: What should happen

MadamSunday nights are commonly known as “Madam Secretary” nights for fans during the season, but we’re now in the midst of a rather-painful hiatus for the CBS show. There is still more than a month to go until the show’s return, and when it does come back, it’ll be doing so at a new 9:00 timeslot, give or take — after all, you do gotta remember that this show is subject to a ridiculous amount of football-related delays. That’s just common around this time of year.

So what should take place when the show does return? We’re going to spend a little time on that today…

Where we left off – During the season 2 finale, Elizabeth McCord received quite the tantalizing offer from President Dalton to be his running mate during his reelection campaign; there is no word just yet on whether or not she will accept. Meanwhile, over the final episodes Henry became more involved thanks to a new role, and Stevie decided to take things too quickly in terms of her getting married.

What should happen – Everyone’s going to have their own opinion on the idea of Bess being VP, but personally we don’t feel it’s needed since the show is great as-is. Plus, being the Secretary of State in some ways is more exciting, since you’re thrown more into the world of international conflict and are more on the diplomatic front lines.

We can tell you that Morgan Freeman is returning to direct the season 3 premiere, and will also reprise his role from the season 2 premiere to go along with it. Meanwhile, Bess and Henry are going to start to worry that the family is being stalked after a series of incidents involving Jason. Jane Pauley is also going to guest-star as herself over the course of the hour.
