‘Criminal Minds’ season 12: Could Thomas Gibson sue show over firing?
We imagine that one way or another, you’re going to be hearing about Thomas Gibson and his firing from “Criminal Minds” a lot more over the course of the summer.
Mere days after the actor was dismissed from the long-running CBS procedural, The Hollywood Reporter claims that Gibson has hired Skip Miller and Sasha Frid to help determine if there is a potential lawsuit that could be fired over his dismissal. What we know is that the actor allegedly kicked writer Virgil Williams during an argument over an episode that Gibson was director, and he was promptly replaced in that position and also suspended from the show. From there, he was eventually dismissed days after the story went public. This incident follows allegations of another conflict years ago, and also a DUI arrest that caused some concern on the set.
We are certainly not familiar enough with the subject matter here in order to determine one way or another if there is a case here, but we certainly know that this is something that CBS and also ABC Studios (who makes the show behind the scenes) would like to throw into the rear-view mirror as quickly as humanly possible. Just remember here for a minute that the premiere is a little over a month away, and you want to promote the upcoming episodes without having to talk about Gibson all of the time. This is a huge distraction for everyone, and the longer a possible lawsuit continues, the longer the specter will hang.
Of course, we’ll have more on this story as we get closer to the show returning, but for now head over here if you do want to get some recent comments from former “Criminal Minds” star Shemar Moore … which may or may not have been about Gibson.
