‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7 premiere: What should happen
Are you ready to ride the wave back to Hawaii? Unfortunately, the new season of “Hawaii Five-0” will not be back for over a month, but we’re certainly expecting some big things! This is a show that has constantly pushed the envelope when it comes to action, and hopefully they’ll also continue to think outside of the box when it comes to mysteries. Just remember for a minute or two here that there have already been well over 100 episodes, let alone idea from the original version of the show. Hopefully this tests the creativity of the writers as they work to try to come up with some more ideas.
For the sake of this particular article in our month-long What Should Happen series, we’re not focusing so much on any long-term storyline; instead, we’re looking more at what this series can do over the course of its premiere to surprise, delight, and entertain.
Where we left off – Danny made an enormous sacrifices in helping McGarrett survive thanks to a liver transplant. This came after an action-packed and particularly violent finale, one where several characters were in jeopardy before ultimately coming together. There was an opportunity at the end of this for everyone to catch their breath (i.e. no cliffhanger), but the reality is that crime doesn’t exactly take a break. These characters will have more to do soon enough!
What should happen – CBS has already released some details on this, including that McGarrett is going to refuse to listen to Danny when he tells him to relax following a surgery. Instead, Steve’s going to go out for a mission regarding a potential vigilante scaring tourists away from Hawaii thanks to their actions murdering serial killers. Sure, they are taking out bad people, but death in general has a habit of making people uneasy.
What we want to see from this episode, aside from the typical Five-0 investigation, are consequences to some of McGarrett’s choices. Maybe he does end up helping out the team, but what sort of toll does that take on him? Are there significant consequences?
Elsewhere, we’d like to get the ball rolling on a few other stories for characters like Chin and Kono, who can always use more to do.
