‘Ray Donovan’ season 4 video: All about Abby’s latest battle

“Ray Donovan” is a series that likes to feature some rather intense situations, whether it be with the mob, with super-dangerous individuals, or with even prison breaks or corporate double-dealings. What makes the show stand out here and there is its ability to balance these stories out with ones that are a little more human, and focus on some of the struggles that so many people go through in their normal lives. Not everyone may have extracurricular activities similar to those of Ray, but they may relate more to Abby and her cancer struggle.

Obviously what she is tackling is highly painful and emotional, but as Paula Malcomson explains in a new video on the show’s official YouTube channel, it also makes the character show more than ever her strength and what she is truly capable of:

“When someone has to face something like that, you see what they’re made of … I think it sort of galvanizes Abby, in a lot of ways. She really sort of has to step up. She’s really taking care of the family [right now]. You sort of look at these things as a great opportunity to strengthen the character.”

Our hope is that there could be good news for Abby by the end of the season, but at the same time there’s no real guarantee of that. Just remember that this is not the sort of show that necessarily mandates good news as something you’re going to see. People are going to be devastated, and it could happen fairly regularly.
