‘Outcast’ finale reaction: Show bosses on key stories, season 2 plans
Friday night’s finale of “Outcast” was all sorts of scary and intense; it paid off a few stories, but at the same time left quite a bit of still in play for the second season. It also made it all the clearer that Kyle’s affliction impacts his whole family in more ways than he realized.
In the video below, you can see executive producers Chris Black and Robert Kirkman discuss the events of this particular episode, and also the benefits that they received as a result of doing a ten-episode cable series. Because the season was so contained, in turn they were able to take a step back and really focus in on what they wanted to accomplish over this given period of time. This is not necessarily something that every showrunner out there has the luxury of doing.
As for some specifics, you hear a little bit in this video about how Megan moves forward after the tragic death of the penultimate episode, how Anderson will be reeling from the weight of his own actions, and how he and Kyle in general are realizing that the problems now awaiting them are so much bigger than the town of Rome.
Perhaps the thing that we enjoyed the most about season 1 more so than anything else is that this is really a series that took its time. It wasn’t in a hurry to force any one story along, and as a result of that we got a chance to really get to know some of the characters within this world.
