On ‘Poldark’ season 2 and interesting new competition
When it comes come back, there’s going to be a little bit of unexpected competition over on ITV. For whatever reason, that network has chosen to start their historical drama “Victoria” one week earlier than “Poldark” on August 28 at 9:00 p.m. local time, which means that for several weeks of the season, these two shows are going to compete with each other.
Is this a smart decision? We’re not sure how many ways we can say “probably not,” unless this is just some sort of chest-puffing match between the two networks to see who will blink first. The problem with this for “Victoria” is that it is making the assumption that viewers will get hooked after one week, and as a result of that will have little interest in checking out “Poldark” live. We’re not sure it will work like that given that you’re dealing with a show here that has already been on the air for a season. It’s going to be rather hard for “Victoria” to make that connection in anywhere near as long a span of time.
Regardless of our opinion, we do firmly believe that this is going to make for a rather interesting ratings battle to watch moving forward.

Even odder when you consider ITV own Mammoth; which produced both Poldark and Victoria. I think they put Queen Vicky on earlier to give her a fighting chance.
