‘The Blacklist’ season 4: First promo all about ‘who is Liz’s father?’ question
The fourth season of “The Blacklist” is coming to NBC on Thursday, September 22, and the first promo advertising that premiere date is all about one thing first and foremost: Who is Liz Keen’s father?
In a way, it would make sense to answer that question “Alexander Kirk” without hesitation, mostly because every single sign out there is pointing to that answer. Heck, Kirk even said so himself! We don’t know how anything could make it more obvious … other than of course the idea that it was always too obvious.
For most of the summer, the question that we’ve long wondered is why we are supposed to trust a character who we barely know, especially when this character has been set up as a manipulative villain. At this very moment, we definitely think that this question still stands. Why in the world should we believe someone like Kirk when we’ve been given so little of a reason to? Maybe we’re not going to get proof, but it would at least be nice to get some further evidence.
In the end, hopefully the premiere will offer up some further information one way or the other. After all, we never quite thought that this show as a whole needed the identity of Liz’s father to be a mystery in order to work. After all, you’ve got a lot of other robust stuff that the series could tackle, and you’ve got great performers in Megan Boone and James Spader who are capable of delivering a lot of great stuff.
