‘The Walking Dead’ season 7 premiere: What should happen

twdLet’s be real: At this point, there are probably about 10,000 various think-pieces across the entire internet about the upcoming seventh season of “The Walking Dead,” what could happen on the show, and how much the producers did this-or-that wrong when it came to the Negan cliffhanger.

Personally, we already made our thoughts clear on how that move was a mistake, mostly because it made fans feel like something they expected was getting taken from them. In addition to that, there is another issue in how this move causes us as a viewer to forget about almost everything in the finale to become transfixed on this one individual thing. It also makes this particular article in our What Should Happen series rather difficult, given that such a vast majority of it is focused in on on particular subject.

Where we left off – As we mentioned, Jeffrey Dean Morgan arrived as Negan, and in the process is putting a wide array of different lives in grave danger. One of them will not make it out of there in one piece. Also, both Carol and Morgan at present seem to have fairly uncertain paths, and are both trying to figure out something that they may have lost within themselves. Identity is such a complicated subject with this show, especially since you almost have to segment who you were before the apocalypse to who you are now.

What should happen – We know that Ezekiel is coming, and we’d almost wish we would get to that almost immediately rather than continue to focus on the Negan cliffhanger. Yet, we do understand the need to give that attention … let’s just hope that it only lasts a few minutes so we can move on to other things and see how so many people are ultimately coping with the aftermath of what transpires. That to us is much more interesting than who dies — unless the show does something really gutsy and gets rid of Rick or Daryl, which we cannot imagine them doing in a million years.
