Did ‘Devious Maids’ season 4 finale ratings help season 5 chances?
Last night’s season finale of “Devious Maids” ended with many revelations, whether it be the reveal of Peri’s murder, a pregnancy, and a kidnapping following a time jump. There was a lot that went on that will (hopefully) propel things forward to a fifth season.
Unfortunately, we don’t know as of yet if that will happen, but we can at least deliver your way the latest ratings! The finale last night generated a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic alongside 860,000 viewers. While it was about even in the demo versus the week before, this is a rise in viewers. However, they are not improvements on the season average as a whole, which is down more than 30% in both measures compared to season 3.
Are there some extraneous factors getting in the way here? It is fair to assume so, whether you are talking about distractions such as the Presidential election, major holidays, or even this week with the Olympics. This has been a particularly tough summer for TV shows to grab the attention of the public, but if the show is brought back next year, hopefully it can stabilize in a year that doesn’t have so much going on. Even if it is the final season, it would be nice to see the show get a proper ending. While not confirmed by any means, we’d much rather see a show sign off with some closure than one shut down by a network being too conservative. We like to think that at this point, there is a certain degree of them owing it to their fans to wrap things up.
