TV Friendships: What ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 8 could bring for Sam, Callen
“NCIS: Los Angeles” may be at its core a series all about stopping crimes and heroic deeds, but we do think that there is a certain part of it that is defined by the friendship between the different characters. For this show, those characters are Sam and Callen first and foremost. That bond helps to ultimately ensure that they are better at their job, and that we’re entertained as viewers to boot.
So what comes next? We’re interested in spotlighting that further in the latest chapter of our TV Friendships series.
Where they left off – We ultimately had a chance to see Callen lend a helping hand to Sam during one of the most emotional finales that the show has delivered; his family was in danger, and Callen showed that he can be there for him as both a friend and also a fellow team member. The two were heroic, and they had some really touching moments to boot as Sam thanked him for helping to ensure his son’s safety.
Where they should go from here – We know at this point that the friendship between the two is solid, so you don’t have to worry about anything coming up that will break it off. So instead, why not have them engage in some sillier cases? We’d love to see them do some more undercover work that puts them in fish-out-of-water situations, or has them flexing muscles that maybe only one of them is good at. We know these guys come through if there’s danger, so disarming them in other ways seems to be the key to some great entertainment.
Also, there’s admittedly a part of us that wants to just see them do more bro things, like go out for a drink or show what they do after hours.
