‘Wayward Pines’ has a season 3 plan, but no renewal — at least not yet
For those of you who are interested in seeing a third season of “Wayward Pines,” rest assured that you’re not alone. Unfortunately, there still was no official news to report at Fox’s Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour panel on Monday.
Instead, all Fox Television Group co-chairman Dana Walden would say is that they are still waiting to see what the numbers are going to be once they come in across many different viewing measures. The ratings were down for season 2 by a sizable margin; while it still fared better than many other summer shows, that’s not much of a ringing endorsement when you look at how terribly some scripted fare performed this summer, especially on CBS.
Walden also made it clear (per TVLine) that the show producers “have a really compelling for Season 3 that I liked very much. We’re definitely talking about the show right now.” Hopefully, it will happen, and that getting some more creative distance from the source material will only help the series grow. One of the biggest problems with the second season as a whole was that it got off to an extremely slow start, but then progressed and got better and better as the season went on. If the quality of the drama during the finale was there in the premiere, maybe some of the ratings drama would not have existed.
Rest assured that when there are updates on the future of the series, we’ll have them for you here.
