‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: ‘The Vampire Diaries’ alum set to play Caitlin’s mother

Caitlin -

We first heard some time ago that Caitlin Snow’s mother could be coming on board “The Flash” this coming season, and there were immediately reasons to think that this casting could be particularly interesting. After all, we’ve heard that the two do not have the best relationship in the world, and learning more about her in turn could allow us to learn more about how Caitlin turned out to be the person that she is. It may be in spite of her past rather than as a result of it.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Susan Walters (who already has some familiarity with The CW thanks to “Still Star-Crossed” and “The Vampire Diaries”) has been cast for the part, and should appear at some point early on in the third season. There is an option in place for her to potentially recur depending on where the story goes this season.

Personally, we’d be thrilled to have a different sort of story for Caitlin this season, given that we’ve already spent two different seasons now dealing with romantic subplots. It’d be great to take a little bit of a break from that, and then focus in on some other things whether it be her past or some of the friendships that she has around her. Or, who knows? Maybe you spend more time developing a potential Earth-1 Killer Frost story. Would anyone out there be mad over such an idea? We hardly think so.

The third season should premiere in a couple of months, and start off with a very different sort of Caitlin thanks to Flashpoint.
