‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 premiere: What should happen
Over the past two years “Once Upon a Time” has clearly loved teasing dark turns for some of their characters. At this point last year, we were preparing for the arrival of Emma as the Dark Swan, a really intriguing idea that didn’t go nearly as dark as we were hoping. As a matter of fact, the entire first half of last season feels a little muddy at this point, almost as though Disney / ABC were fearful of small children being freaked out by an evil Emma that they had to tone it down.
With that being said, we’re set up with something great courtesy of the return of the Evil Green in a hyper-aggressive form. She’s been split off from Regina, and no longer has that moral compass to stop her from doing the worst thing possible. Lana Parrilla will get a chance to play evil like never before, and every other character in Storybrooke should be afraid.
So what should happen in the premiere episode alone? We’ve got a few suggestions…
- We should have a chance to learn more about how the new Evil Queen operates; also, we should see the first instance of her doing something evil by the end of the episode. We don’t want to wait to get the ball rolling a little bit.
- We should see Rumpelstiltskin at least looking at how to wake Belle up, even if he is not entirely successful in it.
- Given that we know Aladdin and Jasmine are coming onto the show, why wait to meet them? Give us a brief introduction.
- Finally, if we are committing to the Hook / Emma relationship, can we start setting up what the endgame could be? We’d like an engagement or something this season, since we don’t get the sense that this is one of those couples who just isn’t getting married.
