‘Supergirl’ season 2 and possible ‘unifying’ crossover threats

Kara -

While details are still relatively scant regarding The CW’s most-ambitious crossover event to date, here is what we know: It could end up involving every show from “Supergirl” to “The Flash” to “Legends of Tomorrow” to “Arrow,” and Kara Danvers could be front and center for much of it in some way. Given that she is the new hero on the block (or at least on the network), it makes some sense that the producers would want to figure out a way to introduce her to all of these other characters.

As for the reason why Kara would visit all of these different worlds, that’s being worked out. Executive producer Greg Berlanti did at least confirm recently (per Entertainment Weekly) that a villain may have something to do with it:

“I’m going to probably try to have one unifying threat, as opposed to different things on different ones, which is what the first year was.”

There are a lot of different challenges that you are inevitably going to run into when crafting this sort of crossover, but we would personally imagine that one of the larger ones is merely trying to figure out how to make a villain who is challenging enough that these characters would need to unify to take them down. Yet, at the same time the gravity of this villain cannot overshadow the individual villains on each respective show. You have to make sure that your Big Bads are equally awesome in order for there to be some balance in the world.
