‘Doctor Who’ season 11: Is Peter Capaldi REALLY confirmed to be staying on?

Doctor Who -Isn’t it funny how the game of internet telephone works from time to time?

If you were to believe some reports that are out there right now, Peter Capaldi is for sure locked in to doing an eleventh season of “Doctor Who.” Of course, in theory we’d absolutely love for that to be the case. It’s the sort of news worth dancing up and down over!

Yet, at the same time, saying for certain that this is happening and is officially locked in and a done deal is a little bit of a misnomer. What actually was said was that showrunner Steven Moffat does not think he will be writing the final episode of Capaldi’s stint as the Doctor. There’s a big difference there, given that Moffat is not leaving until the Christmas Special next year. There is still time for things to change, and therefore time for all parties involved to figure all of this out.

In the end, the best suggestion that we can really offer at present is to continue to enjoy the show for however long it is out, and from there move on and focus on what’s coming with Capaldi when we get a year or so down the road. After all, there is still an extraordinary amount of time for decisions to be made.

The next new episode of “Doctor Who” is going to be the Christmas Special fittingly coming up later this year; from there, the tenth season will premiere in 2017. There’s no real timetable set for anything beyond that for the time being.
