‘Chicago Fire’ season 5: Four-way crossover with ‘Med,’ ‘PD,’ ‘Justice’ likely coming in 2017

For those of you who are extremely excited about the idea of a four-way “One Chicago” crossover, it does look like it’s coming! With that being said, you may be waiting for a while still before you have a chance to check it out. Why is that? While “Chicago Fire” may be coming on the air this fall along with its sister series “Chicago PD” and “Chicago Med,” the new “Chicago Justice” won’t be premiering until 2017. With that in mind, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to start gearing up for that crossover until we have all of the shows on the air.

In elaborating on some of the plans even further to TV Guide, executive producer and franchise guru Dick Wolf made things clear with the following message:

“It’ll be in the second half of the season because there’s not much sense in having a four-way until Justice is on and people know who the characters are … Justice is very complicated to figure out because you would want the first season, especially, to end with the trial. So, it’s a question of how intensely will a crossover story impact on all four shows. It may not be as totally integrated as the SVU crossover was last year. It’s a little premature, but I think that there will definitely be a four-way sometime in the spring.”

Maybe in some ways this is going to be a semi-crossover, where you see characters from various shows stretched across four hours, but not necessarily any situation where all four teams are around at the same time. We can only imagine the writing and logistical nightmares that could come into creating something like this, but maybe the parties involved do appreciate the challenge! We know that is something we would certainly love to see happen.
