‘Major Crimes’ season 5 spoilers: Tao goes undercover; Buzz finds some more clues
Through much of the fifth season of “Major Crimes,” one of the key storylines has been Buzz searching for truth to an old case, one that has personal ties to him thanks to his family. Rusty has assisted in the investigation, but we’re not going to say that every single episode to date has led him down the path to new information that proved useful. As a matter of fact, there were more than a few stumbling blocks along the way.
When the August 22 episode entitled “Family Law” rolls around, the great news is that you could see some serious progress! Per SpoilerTV, Buzz will have a chance to connect some partial fingerprints to a complete one, and as a result of that finally learn the identity of a suspect in the case.
Elsewhere, there’ll be once again quite a bit going on. The main case revolves around a jogger who is found after falling down the stairs of the Greek Theatre, and it will lead to a wide degree of surprises bits of information. For one, there’ll be a divorce attorney involved with a plethora of angry clients, and you’ll also see Tao investigate college-age prostitutes by going undercover in some capacity. It’s not entirely clear what all of the connections are, but rest assured there are probably some connections.
Given that we are starting to get closer to the end of the summer portion of this season, we do imagine there being at least some sort of tension building throughout this, which we only hope will carry through to whatever is coming in the summer finale.

It’s high time we see some progress in the Buzz story line. One way or the other. In “Moral Hazard” (episode 507) Rusty merely voiced my own frustration about that story (even the otherwise great “Identity” vlog has become a little pointless, lately). Let’s briefly review what happened so far: Buzz decided to look into the murder of his father and his uncle by himself. He agreed to share the investigation with Rusty. Only after (very) reluctantly asking some of the other squad members for advice or help, he managed to have at least a little progress, like getting the surveillance video cleaned up and gaining the partial finger prints. Stubbornly, he still refuses to admit that he can’t do this on his own. I guess, as soon as the squad does what they do best: working together, this crime will eventually be solved. I hope this development will be set in motion sooner rather than later.
Under “elsewhere” you announce that Tao will go undercover to investigate teenage prostitutes. Really? Tao? That should be interesting.
As for the rest of the summer season: Let’s hope there will be something more meaningful for Sharon as well. So far, in the ongoing season, this interesting and multilayered character has been a little wasted.
