‘Shark Tank’ revisited: Signal Vault, The Beebo, Acton Skates, McClary Bros. Drinking Vinegars

Shark Tank -Shark Tank” is a great show to be a part of if you’re a business not only because you get a lot of exposure on TV; you also get it over the course of several airings. This is a series that repeats often on ABC and other networks, though we do wonder at present if there are really going to be that many viewers tuning in for Friday’s repeat. The Olympics Opening Ceremony is not something that you really want to compete against!

Tonight, the show is repeating an episode that actually first aired back in September, so we’re really going back a long way to look at the products that are being specifically featured here. Luckily, there are some good ones this time worth looking at again … even if you DVR the show to watch the start of the Games.

The Beebo – Ashton Kutcher made his first investment on “Shark Tank” in this feeding innovation alongside Lori Greiner, and we still think it’s a brilliant concept: It’s easy to explain, fairly inexpensive, and since the show they’ve done a great job of expanding outward into retail. For this business in the long-term, word-of-mouth and expansion really are the key. The more people know that this exists, the better off they’re going to be.

Acton – The “rocket skates” were the product that they really promoted back on the show, but since that time they have introduced other products that utilize electronics while being lightweight and easy to use. They’ve moved beyond just a product and into a company more than ever before. Do we think that this is a specialty product designed for a certain demographic? Sure, but there can be money in it if they can appeal to outdoorsy people who are looking for fun, alternative forms of transportation.

McClary Brothers Drinking Vinegars – If you are opening an Old West saloon, these are the vinegars for you! Okay, we’re joking somewhat here. We’re not a fan of this particular style of drink, but we do still contend that there are many who are, and this is probably one of the best brands out there on the market for something authentic. Since the show, what we’ve seen them do more than anything else is expand, further highlighting recipes and ways to use their signature drinks. Basically, they are making this into a lifestyle brand that people can taste and celebrate.

Signal Vault – This product is a huge winner, and it’s hard to know how else to look at it. It’s incredibly smart, since it’s as simple as a card that helps to protect your credit cards against potential hacks. It’s reasonably-priced and incredibly simple to use. We’ve said this before, but some of the best businesses on this show are the ones that have one really great idea, and are able to use that to push forward their brand.
