TV Friendships: ‘NCIS’ season 14 and further McGee – Bishop banter

Bishop -

Is there a signature “NCIS” friendship anymore going into season 14? For so many of them, DiNozzo was the key since he had such an energy and positive spirit about him. He was the sort of person who was easy to be friends with, and he could adopt a wide array of different roles: Mentor, brother-figure, shoulder to lean on, and comic relief. Without him, the dynamic changes.

Yet, we do still think there are several intriguing bonds that remain on the series, whether it be the long-standing (Abby and Gibbs) or one that is still fairly new in McGee and Bishop. They’ve been around each other for a couple of years, and whether it be on the job in the field or back in the office, they each have a quirky personality that meshes well with each other. They understand one another in a way few other characters do, and it is with that we’re intrigued to see where the story takes them moving further into the future.

For more on that subject, read on in the latest chapter of our TV Friendships series.

Where they left off – There was no real “end point” for the friendship timeline here, given that most of the finale was spent fittingly on Tony’s farewell. For them, much was at it always has been, with the two working together on cases and also sharing in some fun interactions with the boss.

Where they could go from here – How about sending the two of them further off the grid to take on more cerebral challenges? We’ve seen relentless action on this show, and what makes this particular pairing of characters interesting is that they can bring a further dimension to the show. You have Duane Henry and Wilmer Valderrama around, and they should be able to handle more of the physical challenges.

Also, we’d still be down for seeing what happened if these two were to have some sort of game night with their friends / family. Or, what would happen if McGee set her up on a date with one of his friends? There are ways to keep their friendship playful, while also developing it further and allowing for a greater feeling that they need or rely on each other.
