‘Supergirl’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Merlin’ alum cast as Lex Luthor’s sister!

It was announced a little while ago that “Supergirl” was going to feature the introduction of Lex Luthor’s sister Lena on the upcoming second season, and we are now rather pleased to report that the role has been cast!

As for who is inhabiting this said character, TVLine reports that “Merlin” alum Katie McGrath is going to be playing the part of Lena Luthor on the second season, a still-mysterious person who could be of particular significant to the show depending on what the writers have planned for her.

On the surface, one of the things that we’re most excited to see is where her allegiances truly lie. Lena is going to come to National City looking in some ways for a new start, and a chance to create a little bit of distance between herself and her famous brother. She will have a chance to take over as the CEO of Luthor Corp., which she in turn can try to make into something that the family can be proud of.

Here is where things, at least from out vantage point, could start to get a little bit more complicated. While Lex is incarcerated back in Metropolis, he is still her brother and we wonder if Lena will hold any ill will towards Supergirl over what Superman did. Even if she does want to be a better person and more of a force for good, there could be a certain part of her that causes her to be a little enigmatic in the eyes of some other main characters … or at least this is what we want to see. Time will tell with this character.
