‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7: Ian Harding breaks down big engagement

For everyone out there who was waiting for answers on Aria and Ezra on Tuesday night’s “Pretty Little Liars,” you got them! Aria, after initially being concerned about the number of secrets and the danger in her life, finally decided that the time was right and she accepted his proposal. While we don’t know for certain when a wedding is coming, we certainly feel like this show would not be what it was if they had that happen off-camera. It should be a staple regardless of if this is the final season or not.

Regardless, what we do know for now is that this was a moment that Ian Harding saw coming for at least a little while. Speaking about it in a new chat with The Hollywood Reporter, he related it to almost a calming storm in the midst of chaos, and something that could offer stability:

“I totally expected it at this point in their relationship. I knew it was going that way and Marlene mentioned it months and/or years ago that was the way we’re going and that we’d see if anything changes. Ezra is a hopeless romantic and there’s so much craziness happening in their lives. With A.D. or “A” or Uber A or the Emoji King or whoever it is out there, they just want something solid. It’s a symbol of the solidity they offer each other and that’s why they did it at this time … But now, in season seven, I’m jaded.”

For us, one of the larger questions remaining is ultimately rather simple: Is this going to be the only engagement we see before the series ends? Given that there are other longtime pairings out there in the universe, we do think such acts are very well possible.
