‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7: On the latest death

Given that this is “Pretty Little Liars,” you have to assume that deaths are going to be a regular part of the fabric. This certainly proved to be true on Tuesday night’s new episode, as we saw Sara Harvey shockingly die near the end of the hour. This is a character who, both in the previous iteration of the series and following the massive flash-forward, had shown a knack for doing terrible things. There were times when you felt for her and wanted redemption, but ultimately her actions just rendered that impossible.

As a matter of fact, even the actress playing the part did not ultimately expect things were going to turn around. Speaking to TVLine about the demise of her character, Dre Davis passed along the following message:

“I never expected any kind of redemption, to be honest … There was one day on set where Shay [Mitchell] was like, ‘Wow, we’ve really done so much s–t to you,’ and I was like, ‘Well, I’ve done s–t to you, too!’ I don’t think Sara really deserved much. I mean, she lost the use of her hands, but everybody ends up with scars in Rosewood.”

Davis would not say one way or another as to whether or not we’ve truly seen the last of her character — which to us means that there is certainly a chance that we see her turn up again in a flashback, or at least some other way in which we understand a little more of her true intentions. She can probably be filed away in the end alongside many of the other characters who we never fully understood.
