‘Devious Maids’ ratings: Is a season 5 renewal on the horizon?
So far this season, “Devious Maids” has certainly delivered twist after twist, and certainly plenty of humor and off-the-wall antics to boot. This is the sort of show that we inherently want to root for to come back for another season, mostly because we know just how much it brings to the table.
Yet, at the same exact time, we’re not entirely sure that it will just yet. We’re one week away from the finale, and the ratings (at least in terms of live+same day figures) are not quite any better than they have been all season. Last night’s new episode drew just a 0.3 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, which is close to what it has averaged most of the season. For any cable show, that’d be a struggle, and then you also have to consider that so far through season 4, we’ve seen a more than 30% drop in his key measure.
Are there so many reasons for this? Sure, whether you want to look at the rise in DVR recordings or the presence of many major distractions this summer, from the NBA Finals earlier in the year to the GOP and DNC Conventions that took place. The Presidential race in general has so many people heated up that television is not always the first thing that comes to mind.
Hopefully, the audience will tune in big for the finale in order to at least make sure the show is sent off well.
