‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 7, episode 6 review: Did the Aria – Ezra engagement happen?
At the end of this past episode of “Pretty Little Liars” two weeks ago, Aria received quite an offer at the hands of Ezra … or should we say a proposal?
We know that there were many other big secrets that happened over the course of tonight’s installment, but the one that many out there are going to remember and be talking about is her finally saying yes … but not after coming clean about some of what has been going on with her. She loved Ezra and she made that clear, but at the same time she also realized that she didn’t want to be arrested, leaving him alone to find for himself.
Maybe this engagement is enough when it comes to happy news to satisfy for a while. We certainly hope so, given just how much chaos there was elsewhere over the course of the night. We had the death of Sara Harvey (which certainly was expected, given that she got far too deep into something nefarious, whatever that may be), another series of unfortunate events with the Liars trying to figure out if Elliot was really gone, and Mary Drake spilling the beans and being manipulative about how she was always the neglected one.
The main issue with much of this episode, other than the engagement, is that we’ve seen so much of it before. Therefore, we weren’t exactly emotionally shocked by the vast majority of what transpired over the course of the hour, and we have a hard time buying into every twist when it comes down some sort of mysterious destination that will require a payoff that is far too late into the season to fully justify. Remember how much more we wanted from Charlotte? Episode Grade: B.
