For those of you who love great drama, we’ve certainly got some great news coming in your direction right now: The latest “Madam Secretary” season is now on Netflix!
As many fans have noted over the course of the past week or so, the latest episodes for the second season have popped up on the streaming service, and have done so relatively early compared to many other network shows that run from fall to spring.
So why release it on the streaming service now? There are a few key explanations that we can think of.
1. More publicity – Would we really be writing this episode if the new season came out in late August? We’re not quite sure, since there are so many other headlines at that time. This is a way to get the series more attention.
2. Ratings – Hey, think of CBS as a network playing the long game. They want to get more people hooked on the show, and giving people more time to prepare for the third season later this year is a smart move. After all, we’re talking about a show with more than 40 episodes, and that’s a lot TV to catch up on! Specifically, we’re talking about spending more than 24 hours straight if you want to make it to where the series is at present.
3. A new timeslot on CBS – It’s possible that the network wants to get that added bump since “Madam Secretary” season 3 is airing at a prestigious timeslot Sundays at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. This is the spot previously occupied by “The Good Wife,” so there is some pressure here.
