‘Once Upon a Time’ season 6 spoilers: Emilie de Ravin hints at changes for Belle
We’ve always appreciated the Belle character being a part of “Once Upon a Time,” but at the same time, there has always been one question that continually remained on our mind: How could she be continually loyal and supportive to Rumpelstiltskin? We know that there is a lot of love there, but at the same time this is a man who has lied to her, been cruel to her at times, and really has shown very little capacity for change. Yet, she has tried to see the good in him.
However, things may be slightly different now when she is eventually woken up on the upcoming sixth season. As Emilie de Ravin explains to Entertainment Weekly, one of the biggest challenges is that she now has to reconcile some of the feels that she has for Rumple with the reality that she is about to become a mother, and there is someone else she has to worry about not:
“The way she is extracted, how it happens and the characters that are involved is really cool, and it reveals a lot about her relationship and her past/future … It’s been a long time coming. Now that she’s pregnant, and now that she knows that it’s not really just about her anymore, she has to take responsibility for this other little person. That’s making her head spin a little bit with regard to, ‘Okay, I can spend my life trying to fix this person, whether it’s for me or for him, but if it’s affecting someone else now, it’s a game changer.’ It puts a little bit of spanner in the works for their marriage for a bit. There’s some alone time to be had.”
Hopefully, what we end up seeing out of this is Rumple making a real effort like never before to try to become a different, better person, just for the sake of being able to actually be a part of this child’s life. We want to have hope, but at the same time, this is Rumpelstiltskin. It’s not easy to be particularly confident with him.
