‘Castle’ alum Jon Huertas signs on to NBC’s ‘This Is Us’
We’ve been certainly curious to see who would be the first former “Castle” cast member to land a major role somewhere else, mostly because we would imagine many of these actors would be in hot demand. These people were a part of a show that lasted eight years, which is surely no small feat.
In the end, it is none other than Jon Huertas who has managed to land a role first and foremost! According to a new report coming in from Deadline, Huertas is going to be appearing on the upcoming NBC drama “This Is Us” as Mike, the co-worker and good friend of Milo Ventimiglia’s character of Jack. Further specifics of the role are not entirely clear, but this series is all about a panoramic look at multiple lives that are inexplicably tied together. We gotta admit that in some ways the show is reminiscent of the quickly-canceled “Six Degrees,” but there is something that has resonated with people so far. The trailer (see below) was an enormous hit on Facebook in particular, which should make NBC rather hopeful that they could have a hit drama here at a time when it is increasingly hard to have one.
Huertas played Javier Esposito on “Castle,” and was a source for everything from action sequences to funny moments to also some dramatic ones here and there. He would have continued to be a part of a ninth and potentially final season of the show had it gone on; ABC abruptly decided to cancel the series at the very last second before May upfronts.
Ultimately, we’ll have some further news on this and many other fall shows coming up in the near future.
