‘Girl Meets World’ season 3: Rowan Blanchard hints at show’s uncertain future

Girl Meets World -

If you are anxious to know what the future holds on “Girl Meets World” beyond this season, rest assured of one thing: Rowan Blanchard is just as curious as you are.

In the wake of the news yesterday, which gave us an indication that a wide array of “Boy Meets World” stars are coming for the season finale, it is certainly possible that the season 3 finale is the series finale. Blanchard herself says per a Twitter post (see below) that filming the finale “was very emotional,” and that “the family that [the cast and crew] created” is something that she will remember always. These are certainly words that suggest that the cast was at least prepared for this to be the final episode for the show, even if they are holding out hope for the future.

We still contend that we don’t quite know why the Disney Channel would have gone through the trouble of reviving the franchise only for it to last three seasons, especially when it drives viewers of all ages to a network they may not otherwise watch. Maybe it’s not doing enough in the network’s key demo, but to us keeping this show is a no-brainer.

If it turns out that “Girl Meets World” is canceled, we would certainly hope that other networks (see Freeform) or streaming providers (see Netflix, who already streams the first and second season) would consider picking it up. Given that Riley Matthews and some other main characters are growing up, it only makes sense for it to head to a network prepared to handle age-appropriate subject matter.
