Cable ratings: ‘The Last Ship’ season 3, ‘Murder in the First’ improve
For those of you who are fans of TNT’s Sunday-night drama lineup, the latest ratings are in and there’s some good news: It’s legitimately positive!
“The Last Ship” – Let’s start with the Eric Dane drama, which did a very good job of getting some ratings back on its side after some up-and-down weeks this season. This new episode drew in total a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic, and with 2.46 million viewers overall, the show scored its highest overall total of the entire season. Impressive? Well, it at least is in comparison to some other recent ratings, and it gives us hope for a season 4 even when we were previously a little more worried.
“Murder in the First” – Meanwhile, the latest episode of the Taye Diggs-fronted series drew a 0.3 rating, a number that is a slight increase from the prior episode. That’s the good news; the bad news is that this show is still down more than 15% from the second season, which is technically much better than the whopping 30% that “The Last Ship” is down. The key difference here is that the former probably had a little bit more in the way of wiggle room, and sometimes that flexibility can go a rather long way.
We’ll see how these ratings hold up the remainder of the season, but for now, our clear hope is that both shows are granted at least some good news by the time we roll around to their respective finales. There is probably a little bit of time beyond that before a decision has to be made.
