Going into the second season of “Wayward Pines,” it was very difficult to predict in advance precisely what the story was going to be. After all, this was not a show that ended with some sort of dramatic cliffhanger. It tied up the story of season 1 fairly well, and that left a certain air of mystery.
Luckily, the show managed to sort things out after a sluggish start, and the past few weeks have been extremely exciting thanks to the fall of mankind, and in terms the rise of the Abbies. It is almost a cautionary tale as to what can happen when you abuse power, or in some cases abuse those who are around you. We’ve now gotten to a point where the residents of this are considering yet another deep sleep, which is something they never would have been forced to do had they played their cards better.
In the video below, you can see specifically a message from none other than executive producer M. Night Shyamalan, who does his part to encourage you to watch the finale by briefly discussing the “epic story” of it all. Still, we don’t quite know why Fox managed to only get around thirteen seconds of him — the length listed below is misleading, given that he does eventually transition over to something else.
As for whether or not we’re going to get a season 3 beyond this, that is out of the producers’ hands, but we imagine that this is something that will be discussed further by Fox a little bit later this summer. We will just have to wait and see what happens…
