‘Arrow’ season 5 trailer signifies all sorts of changes (video)

Can “Arrow” season 5 be the show’s big comeback year? We’re certainly hoping for the best from it, and the trailer below has given us a reason to be hopeful.

The first thing that we have to mention here above all else is the arrival of Oliver Queen to Russia, and a flashback storyline that ultimately matters. Just think from this vantage point: When was the last time that we had a flashback story important enough to be referenced in a trailer? This is a story that has its roots all the way back in season 1, and we’re excited to see it paid off more when we roll around to the end of the season.

Also, this trailer gives you a sense of the team-building that Oliver has going on in Star City, with the likes of Mad Dog, Evelyn Sharp, and Curtis Holt being trained in their own way to be something more. For those of you who want Original Team Arrow in action, rest assured that it will be coming … eventually. We can’t imagine that Diggle will remain with the Army forever, given that he is sighting in the trailer, and Felicity is still behind in Star City helping out with the training in whatever way that she can.

While we don’t quite know where this story is going to go, we do find like we’ve stabilized things somewhat, and hopefully we can get the show back to where it was the first two seasons before it started to be a little bit more like “The Flash” in terms of the superpowers and the magic that exists out in the world
