‘Ballers’ season 2, episode 3 preview: The aftermath of Vernon’s injury
While we are not going to admit that Sunday night’s new episode of “Ballers” was the splashiest one in the world, there was at least one event over the course of the half-hour that could have far-reaching implications the rest of the season: Vernon’s injury, and playing paintball, no less. There are certain injuries that athletes don’t quite want anyone to know about, mostly because they can be A) embarrassing and B) incredibly detrimental to one’s career.
So where are we going moving forward into the next episode? Well, Spencer is going to do his part to encourage Vernon to stay quiet rather than speak out about his injury when news about what happened to him goes public. Obviously, it’s clear why he would want to speak his mind, but that does not exactly mean that it is the best move for him. It’s all about risk, and Spencer clearly thinks that this is the right one.
Unfortunately, Dwayne Johnson’s character eventually may be a little bit preoccupied with everything else that is going on over the course of the hour. Just remember that he is going to have to contend with Andre and some increased efforts to take away some of his clients. This would be bad enough if it was strictly business; the problem is that we realize that it is also personal.
As for some other teasers for next week’s episode, be prepared for Charles to analyze further whether or not he can handle a new position move; also, Ricky Jerret will ponder over whether or not he can land in a coveted new destination.
