‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ season 8 spoilers: Showrunner on potential Kensi changes
What is going to lie ahead on “NCIS: Los Angeles” season 8? We certainly know that there are going to be several twists and turns ahead, and we certainly hope that many of them could revolve around a change in the Deeks – Kensi relationship. After all, haven’t they been together long enough now to get engaged?
In moving beyond that, though, there are also some questions regarding whether or not Kensi becoming a mother down the road could make her have to reconsider things with her career, given that she is put into some significant danger on a regular basis. Personally, we don’t quite mind if she stays put provided that she exercises caution; it’s the same thing that a father in the job would have to do.
In talking about some of the debates that could factor into the show, new showrunner R. Scott Gemmill had the following to say to TV Guide:
“It’s tricky, because why would Kensi have to be the one to give up her career? But on the other hand, you don’t want to damage the character by making her seem like she’s not a nurturing individual. Because she has a skill set that she wants to use for as long as she can, because she makes a big difference in people’s lives. It’s a tricky question, especially for Kensi, because of being a woman. I think there’s extra pressure on her to choose one way or the other.”
The only time we could imagine seeing some sort of change for Kensi is if she gets pregnant or goes on maternity leave, but we’ll see what happens there. For now, we’re just looking forward to seeing these characters back doing what they do best in the months ahead.
