‘Doctor Who’ season 10: Matt Smith not returning (but will keep watching)

Doctor Who -For those of you out there hoping for an exciting return by Matt Smith to the “Doctor Who” franchise, we have some news that will more than likely be very disappointing: Eleven will not be back with his sonic screwdriver anytime soon.

Speaking in a Guardian webchat, the actor confirmed that while he enjoys watching the BBC hit, he has no plans to return to it in a significant way:

“No it’s not true … I miss everything. I miss Steven [Moffat], I miss Karen [Gillan], I miss Arthur [Darvill], I miss Jenna [Coleman]. I miss time travelling. And I miss my friends in Cardiff … But onward goes the march. It’s Peter’s Tardis now. And I love what he does. So I watch as a fan.”

We figure that maybe there is a chance that we get to see something more from Matt in terms of a small cameo appearance or a part similar to what we had with David Tennant in the 50th Anniversary Special. Beyond that, we’re not really feeling any particular expectation for anything more. We will just be satisfied if we continue to see him supporting the show, since that’s a nice enough reminder of the time he put into it.

Also, sometimes being missed is nothing more than a sign you did your job really well. It happens for all of the good Doctors, and hopefully there’ll be the same sort of thing said whenever Capaldi does choose to step down from the role. We’ll have some further news on his future as we hear about it.
