‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Kid Cudi set for major role

We’re going to start pumping the brakes on what we’ve said about “Empire” not casting as many big names for their upcoming third season.

Not too long after we reported that Taye Diggs of “Private Practice” and “Murder in the First” had landed a role on the hit Fox series, Entertainment Weekly reports that rapper / actor Kid Cudi is also going to appear as both a professional and personal rival to Hakeem Lyon. His name is Gram, and in addition to being an up-and-coming independent artist, also has a girlfriend in Tiana who certainly was close previously to Hakeem. All of this could cause a little bit of trouble, largely because we have known Hakeem over the course of the series so far to be a little bit of a hothead.

When season 3 picks up, we imagine that Hakeem’s personal life is in a little bit of a state of disarray to begin with thanks to him not getting married to Laura as first planned. Also, he may be reeling in his own right from what happened with Anika and Rhonda at the end of the season, mostly because any person would given how crazy that was.

Given that this is a show there there are a wide array of guest stars required, we imagine that this is not the end of the road just yet when it comes to announcements. Hopefully, we’ll have some more coming up in the near future.
