‘Bones’ season 11 finale spoilers: Show exec hypes up cliffhanger
When the producers of “Bones” were planning out the upcoming finale “The Nightmare in the Nightmare,” one thing was certainly clear: They were prepared to have one more season of the show after this one. How else do you explain crafting a cliffhanger ending here?
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jonathan Collier hypes up that there will not be a proper conclusion to the story, which involves the nefarious killer the Puppeteer, this season. He mentions that a key character will be “threatened,” and that “we’re promising everyone an incredibly surprising twist that will really reward our long-term fans.”
What could this said twist be? We’ve heard buzz from Fox about the return of a former key player on the show, so it is certainly possible that a former cast member / recurring character could be wrapped up in this Puppeteer story somehow. It would certainly be interesting to see someone who was previously one of the good guys on the dark side, mostly from a psychological standpoint to see how they got there. There’s obviously no guarantee of something like this happening, but it would definitely be rather interesting to see.
Let’s just hope that whatever this ending is, it proves to be satisfying enough to withstand what is probably going to be a rather extreme wait between seasons. After all, “Bones” season 12 is not slated to premiere until midseason; hopefully, you’re going to get a chance to learn a little bit more about it at San Diego Comic-Con a little later this week.
