‘Bones’ season 12: Comic-Con poster reminds us end is near
The 11th season of “Bones” is going to be coming to a close in just six days, and beyond that, we’ll have one last batch of episodes to look forward to. Fox has already announced that there will be a twelfth and final season premiering early next year, and apparently the network is going to be more interested in promoting that at San Diego Comic-Con next week as opposed to anything that happened over the past few weeks on the air.
The poster below (via TVLine) is the first look we have at how the network is going to hype up the end … and it’s with many familiar themes, tropes, and even pictures. As you can see from the picture above, the photo of Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) comes from the same photo shoot that many season 11 promotional photos came from; the characters are even wearing the same outfits!
As for the skeletons, well they’ve been in pretty much every promotional photo / poster ever.
Why the continued reliance on these sort of themes? Above anything else, this show is nostalgic since it reminds viewers of a different time in television, and this poster is a reminder of that. “Bones” viewers aren’t necessarily watching it to see something that bends your brain in a way that no other show does; it’s familiar, comforting, and fun. It’s been a part of viewers’ lives for so many years that it is going to be awfully strange not having it around down the road.
