‘MasterChef’ season 7, episode 8 preview: Taking a turn for the strange
Tonight, “MasterChef” said goodbye to someone in Manny who we really felt brought a lot to the table when it comes to entertainment, let alone cooking skill. With that said, we’re feeling somewhat bummed that he’s heading out before some really fun challenges come up next week.
First things first, we’ve got a Mystery Box that is all about cooking on a budget. Given that this show has always had an inspirational “anyone can cook” quality to it, this should be fun just from the vantage point of seeing what sort of creativity comes with it. It’s a chance for some contestants, especially those who are used to making a lot out of a little, to shine. Passion matters more here than almost any other time this season.
Then, you’ve also go an elimination challenge that is going to require a very different sort of creativity. After all, you’re going to be making a meal out of some really obscure proteins, such as hearts or feet or other things not often used much in American cuisine. There are great dishes that can be done with them, but it takes real technique and also an adventurous spirit. There are probably a few people this season who probably just don’t that that, and based on the preview that aired after Wednesday’s episode, some cooks could be in trouble.
All in all, it should make for a fun, if not crazy, episode for season 7.
