‘Empire’ season 3 spoilers: Sierra McClain signs up

The third season of “Empire” is starting to really get going, and the exciting thing about that is that we’re learning more and more in regards to casting!

Based on what we’re seeing so far, we are ready and willing to give the producers a salute for what they’re bringing us so far. We know that Xzibit is going to be playing a much larger role, and per The Hollywood Reporter, we also now know that actress / singer Sierra McClain has been set up to recur. Specifically, she’ll be taking on the part of Nessa, a young woman tied to Xzibit’s character who turns out to be so much more than anyone expects. As a matter of fact, she may be one of the next big hitmakers to Empire Entertainment.

Now that we’ve said that, let’s hope that her story ends a heck of a lot better than the last time we saw Lucious Lyon take an interest in someone on a talent level. (Yep, we’re looking at Freda here.)

What we dig about this casting, beyond just getting some more music on the show, is that McClain is still someone up-and-coming. One of the things that we didn’t care for about the rush of big-name stars to the show is that it put more of a strain on our suspension of belief. Also, there was no telling when we would see them again. We’ll see where this story goes, but hopefully McClain will be around for a little while.
