USA places ‘Mr. Robot’ season 2 premiere online early, but for limited time

For those of you excited to see the “Mr. Robot” season 2 premiere early, you may have a chance! Unfortunately, you better watch it early before it is gone…

As USA Network unveils in a Twitter post, you have a chance to check out the entire first episode of the season … for an EXTREMELY limited time. As a matter of fact, within a few hours of us posting this article, it may be gone. We do understand the idea of what the network is doing, forcing viewers to stop what they are doing to immediately watch and discuss this episode. It’s a bold idea, and we give them plenty of credit for the risk.

Granted, with this risk comes a substantial downside. This is a show all about hacking and internet privacy, and as a result of that there is a certain degree of irony that comes from the notion that this episode will probably be pirated in record time. That in turn could lower viewership for the premiere, but the network clearly thinks the added publicity is worth the risk.

Ultimately, we don’t think releasing this episode early will make too big of a dent, given that USA is actually airing the first two back-to-back Wednesday night followed by the “Hacking Robot” aftershow. Therefore, there is an incentive to tune in Wednesday even if you did catch the premiere. For those people, know that the second episode will probably start airing around 10:45 p.m. Eastern. (These episodes will be presented with limited commercial interruption.)
