‘UnREAL’ season 2, episode 6 video: Shiri Appleby talks more on directorial debut

The second season of “UnREAL” is at the halfway point, and it’s only getting bigger from here.

Specifically for Shiri Appleby, we imagine that no episode was bigger than the one airing Monday night. Not only is there a huge Rachel story in the aftermath of Jeremy’s assault, but this is also the directorial debut for the actress. The video below via Lifetime features her talking rather extensively all about it.

Specifically, Appleby says the part of the job she found most rewarding was getting a chance to yelp some of the younger actors on the show, who are still in the process of making names for themselves. She’s someone who has been around the industry now for a rather long time, so she knows more about what works and what doesn’t.

Also, there a little bit of fun back-and-forth in here between Shiri and her co-star Constance Zimmer, including Shiri telling her that this is an episode she should consider submitting for Emmy consideration.

In the end, we anticipate that this episode will be huge in setting up where Rachel’s story goes the rest of the season. If the incident with Jeremy continues to haunt her, it could change the mood of the entire production. It’s understandable for her to deal with some trauma as a result of it; the tragedy is that she doesn’t have much in the way of a safety net. Even her family, who have surfaced a little bit over the course of the series’ run, have not been the most supportive.
