‘Hell on Wheels’ season 5, episode 13 preview: The last before series finale
Maybe there is a more eloquent, character-specific way to describe the next “Hell on Wheels” episode. For now, it is hard to necessarily pin that down in words. The defining characteristic now is the simple fact that there is only one more episode beyond this one until the end. The railroad’s wrapping up, and with that comes an uncertain future.
This sentiment is reflected within the short TV Guide synopsis below for “Railroad Men,” an episode that forces tough decisions. Our feeling is that this will be easier for some characters than others:
“The race to finish the railroad comes down to inches, forcing all parties to contemplate the end of the line and what the future holds for them.”
The celebratory side of the end of the railroad is clear: A lengthy journey is complete! Lives were lost in its production, and more suffered than will ever be known. For many, this will be a relief. Yet, for others, there are questions regarding what they will do for work now. Many of these people do not have a home to go to after so many years on the road. They may be revered by some for their contributions, but emotionally they could be a shell.
At the center of many of them lies Cullen Bohannon. He’s served as a champion of the railroad cause, and yet his decisions have caused him to lose so much. It is far too difficult to tell at present what road he will go down, or if he can find any healing or solace.
As usual, we will have more news on “Hell on Wheels” over the coming days.
