‘Longmire’ season 5 sets September 23 premiere date
There’s great news, “Longmire” fans: The premiere date is finally out there for season 5! The bad news? You may be waiting a tad later this year.
Today, Netflix confirmed that season 5 will premiere on Friday, September 23. Once again, all episodes will be made available at once. It’s nice to see the premiere date staying in September, but we’ll be the first to admit that we were pulling for somewhere around September 9 or even the 16th. That way, we could dive into much of it before the official start of the fall season on network TV. (Granted, we’ll be doing the same thing now anyway.)
For the most part, the streaming service has kept things quiet on season 5, and that is totally fine from this vantage point. There are some shows that you can hyper-analyze in advance, and others meant to be enjoyed. “Longmire” is the latter, whether you are talking about the aesthetic, the writing, or the performances. Season 4 personally is our personal favorite, largely because it kept the soul of the A&E version and added even more serialized elements.
So if you are a fan of the show, here are some suggestions: Get Netflix if you don’t have it already, and watch immediately! (Pretty simple suggestions, really.) Tell all of your friends to do so, as well. The worst thing you want to do is get complacent about the show’s future. There are no plans for season 5 to be the series’ last, but its fate rests solely in the hands of the audience to make sure more are ordered.
As per usual, we’ll be reviewing all season 5 episodes! We’ll probably follow the structure of “one review per day” that we followed last year. Head over here now to get a head start on what we’ve been writing in our “Longmire” archive!
