‘America’s Got Talent’ video: New Judge Cuts promo features Ne-Yo, Reba McEntire, and two golden buzzers

The Judge Cuts round of “America’s Got Talent” starts on Tuesday night, and judging from the new NBC promo for it below, there’s going to be a lot of drama that comes out of this … and also a lot of fun and success.

First things first, let’s talk guest judges. Ne-Yo is going to occupy one day of the show next week, while Reba McEntire will be there for the other. We know that the two of them are primarily singers, so we hope that this is not going to just lead to vocalists getting their golden buzzers by default. If they do truly deserve it, it’s one thing, but we don’t really love the show psychologically pulling us in the direction of singers being the chosen ones this season. Nick Cannon is so far the only person to use a buzzer on a non-singer, and while 90-year old burlesque dancer Dorothy Williams had a nice story, at the same time she’s not a contender to win this whole thing.

Two of the acts we recognize immediately in here are vocal group Linkin’ Bridge, who were one of the pleasant surprises from the premiere, and then also knife-throwing act Deadly Games, who appear to be doing something even more terrifying with a spinning wheel. Maybe one of these will get a little love; ultimately, we’re just giving the show kudos for not really giving anything away at all when it comes to who is getting the golden buzzers here.
