Ratings: ‘The Night Shift’ season 3 lifted by ‘America’s Got Talent’ repeat; ‘Big Brother 18’ steady
Wednesday night’s ratings really just prove to us one thing above all else: “America’s Got Talent,” even when it is a repeat of sorts, manages to still be a pretty significant ratings booster.
Last night’s episode of “The Night Shift” managed to rise up all the way to a 1.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic, lifted in part because of the “America’s Got Talent” special (1.7) that aired for two hours before it. This shows first and foremost that these two shows are complimentary, and that also bodes extremely well for what could be coming next week. The Judge Cuts portion of the talent competition is beginning, and this will offer up an opportunity for even more viewers to flock to the medical drama. Even if they’re just forgetting to change the channel, anything to help further ensure that “The Night Shift” gets another season is something that we’ll subscribe to.
Elsewhere on primetime network TV, the results were mixed. While “Big Brother” this summer does continue to lag behind where we’ve seen it in the past, we have a hard to getting upset about the show at least staying steady with a 1.9 in comparison to the Wednesday show from a week ago.
As for “American Gothic,” that news is not as good given that you’re talking about a show that declined down to a 0.6 rating. This show will at least get to air out the remainder of its run most likely, but it’s not getting good numbers in the slightest. The one baffling part of this is why CBS is airing this after a “Criminal Minds” repeat and not giving this show the “Big Brother” lead-in. We get not wanting to change your fall timeslot for “Criminal Minds,” but still.
